Lexie - January 12, 2015

It was a good week. Hopefully it will continue to go well. We have a possible baptism this week with a nice long story. I will let you know next week if it happens. It is the last week of this transfer and Hermana agustin will probably be heading out. So pray for a good new companion for me! So in a nut shell here are the funny things that happened this week. I got pooped on by a bird. That was straight up nasty. One of the gross lizards that live in the houses fell on me. First on my hand and I didnt know what it was so I flund my arm and looked on the ground and nothing fell. Then I started feeling something crawling on my neck! Ugh! I flung it onto my neck! So then I had a freak out in the hallway. That was fun. Then we had a lovely drunk guy talking to us this week in the street. Well everyday there are tons. But he told me he wants us to come visit him and help him. So we stopped to talk. Then he started in with the, maybe when you come visit there will be chemistry between us, and then we can form a family! Oh dear, My companion was laughing so hard she left me to deal with him! So funny.

I have a kind of slap in your face week. We watched the video by Elder Holland about why missionary work is so hard for our zone conference. It is something I have heard several times but I think this time I finally listened. It made me realize how awful I am for one, well not really awful. Just that I need to do more. And that there is no way that missionary work should ever be easy, ever ever. Anyways I twas a good reminder. I also read an article this week that I loved. Well not an article, a conference talk by Neal A Maxwell it{s called settle this in your hearts. That slaped me in the face even more! It is really good you should definatley go find it. He says at the begining that his talk is for those members who are casually engaged rather than anxiously engaged. I know for a fact that I was one of those members and I am doing everything I can to try and change that. There is a part I really like that says "While casual members are not unrighteous, they often avoid appearing to be too righteous by seeming less committed than they really are - an aironic form of hypocrasy" I think that might exactly define Hermana Baer. Or who she was. i am trying so hard to change and I know Heavenly Father is helping me do just that. The rest of the talk is awesome, There is another part that says "if many utter the name of the deity at all, it is only as a verbal punctuation or as an expression of exclamation, not adoration" So true right? It is always the little things that we need to be careful with. The daily scripture reading and prayers, attending sacrament, paying tithing. Things that sometimes we feel dont mean anything, they mean the most. I know this is true and know that just being a member isnt enough. We are here to build up Gods kingdom and help his children feel the blessings of obedience to the gospel. It is the most important thing in our lives and should always come first.

I hope you have a wonderful week!

Love, Hermana Baer

District gift exchange. I got an m&m machine! Complete with m&ms. Oh how loved I felt! I drew my companion and got her una blusa chiapaneca!

Awfully planned activity. But everyone had a good time laughing at Hermana Baer screaming (Lavamos su auto, GRATIS!) on the corner. it was in my best street vender voice. I think the ward finally knows how strange I am. Everyone in the streets got a good laugh too.
