Lexie - January 19, 2015

So this week. Are you ready for it? Transfers are today and Hermana Agustin is headed to an area in Tuxtla and I am going to TRAIN! I am so nervous! But all will be well! I get to do the 6 hour bus ride today to meet my new companion and then tomorrow back to tapachula. Crazy huh. But I am super excited. It will be a great experience. There is something about teaching others and being the example that I really enjoy so hopefully Heavenly Father can help me be a good example.

We had a baptism on Saturay of an amazing hermana that has been investigating the church for a year and finally made the decision to be baptised. It was amazing and her and hermana agustin have a really special relationship so it was awesome that she could still be here for the baptism.

I think that is it for today that I am going to share! I love you tons and I am so happy things are going well with your knee and with john and with jacob and everything else. Enjoy the video! We will chat more if you are online.

Well this week was a good week. It has been raining a lot lately and today it has been raining basically all day so far so its going to be kind of a lazy p day. We are just going to hang out in the apartment because basically there is no place open or nothing when it rains so we are just going to hang out and see what kind of delicious thing we can think of for lunch. Yesterday we set a record for total of people in church including members and investigators we had 77 wich is a lot for our branch we had to set up more chairs before sacrament meeting started because all the chairs were filled to that was awesome. Also yesterday we were eating at the house of a member family and their house is kind of low compared to all the other houses on their street so it started raining super hard and a lot of water started to fill up their garage and in their house the worst thing is that basically all the water was sewage kind of water because it came from the little canals on the side of the road that are like drainage ditches from all the houses so they are basically a black sludge an that stuff came in the house so we spent an hour or so trying to stop the flooding and getting all the water out of the house so that was an experience. other than that it was a very calm week we had a few investigators in church bet the ones we needed to come didnt come one of the investigators has their baptismal date for this saturday but we are going to have to see if thats a good day for her. Well i think thats it, I love you

It was a good week. Hopefully it will continue to go well. We have a possible baptism this week with a nice long story. I will let you know next week if it happens. It is the last week of this transfer and Hermana agustin will probably be heading out. So pray for a good new companion for me! So in a nut shell here are the funny things that happened this week. I got pooped on by a bird. That was straight up nasty. One of the gross lizards that live in the houses fell on me. First on my hand and I didnt know what it was so I flund my arm and looked on the ground and nothing fell. Then I started feeling something crawling on my neck! Ugh! I flung it onto my neck! So then I had a freak out in the hallway. That was fun. Then we had a lovely drunk guy talking to us this week in the street. Well everyday there are tons. But he told me he wants us to come visit him and help him. So we stopped to talk. Then he started in with the, maybe when you come visit there will be chemistry between us, and then we can form a family! Oh dear, My companion was laughing so hard she left me to deal with him! So funny.

I have a kind of slap in your face week. We watched the video by Elder Holland about why missionary work is so hard for our zone conference. It is something I have heard several times but I think this time I finally listened. It made me realize how awful I am for one, well not really awful. Just that I need to do more. And that there is no way that missionary work should ever be easy, ever ever. Anyways I twas a good reminder. I also read an article this week that I loved. Well not an article, a conference talk by Neal A Maxwell it{s called settle this in your hearts. That slaped me in the face even more! It is really good you should definatley go find it. He says at the begining that his talk is for those members who are casually engaged rather than anxiously engaged. I know for a fact that I was one of those members and I am doing everything I can to try and change that. There is a part I really like that says "While casual members are not unrighteous, they often avoid appearing to be too righteous by seeming less committed than they really are - an aironic form of hypocrasy" I think that might exactly define Hermana Baer. Or who she was. i am trying so hard to change and I know Heavenly Father is helping me do just that. The rest of the talk is awesome, There is another part that says "if many utter the name of the deity at all, it is only as a verbal punctuation or as an expression of exclamation, not adoration" So true right? It is always the little things that we need to be careful with. The daily scripture reading and prayers, attending sacrament, paying tithing. Things that sometimes we feel dont mean anything, they mean the most. I know this is true and know that just being a member isnt enough. We are here to build up Gods kingdom and help his children feel the blessings of obedience to the gospel. It is the most important thing in our lives and should always come first.

I hope you have a wonderful week!

District gift exchange. I got an m&m machine! Complete with m&ms. Oh how loved I felt! I drew my companion and got her una blusa chiapaneca!

Awfully planned activity. But everyone had a good time laughing at Hermana Baer screaming (Lavamos su auto, GRATIS!) on the corner. it was in my best street vender voice. I think the ward finally knows how strange I am. Everyone in the streets got a good laugh too.

Tayler - January 12, 2015

Well we just worked a lot this week. On friday it was like 104 degrees and it was super humid cause it rained a ton in the morning but that day we helped a family clean their garden and their was vunes that had spikes on them and i cut up my arms a lot they kind of burned to but now i am ok just the marks from the cuts are left. Then yesterday we helped a family who are building more on to their house but on toop of their house. so we were helping them make cement and hauling it up the side of the house with a pully so they could make the columns for their ceiling cause everything here is made of cement. So now i am super sore today. my back hurts really bad so its good we have today to just rest. Well sounds like Stanford is a cool place and i really do hope you get the job if that is what is supposed to happen. Just remember to ask God what is the right thing to do and the purpose for asking is not to get what you want but to do the will of our Father just thought i should remind you of that. Well everything is going well here. I Love you, Tell jacob to email me this week too.

Tayler's Testimony - January 5, 2015

Well sounds like it was a good week this week. This week we went to the temple with the whole mission so that was a good experience i love to go to the temple and i wish we could go more because we are only like 15 minutes away but thats ok.

We also had the opurtuntiy yesterday to bring some food to one of the poor sisters in the branch that did not have anything to eat and i could tell she was very thankful for that and i felt very good and i was very happy that we were able to bring that food to her and help her out.

Other than that not much happend this week. I am just happy that i have the oppurtunity to be a missionary and i love it. I cant beleive how fast the time is flying by. I am going to finish a year next year that is super crazy it seems like i just went to the MTC yesterday but looking back on that i realize that the MTC was the easy part. I dont realy have a lot more to tell you.

I know that Jesus Christ lives and that he died for every one of us. I know that all of us make mistakes but we can always be forgiven because of what he did for us. I love being able to help the people here understand that and I love you guys too.

Lexie's Testimony - January 5, 2015

I have been thinking a lot this week that we kind of skipped over christmas and I am not sure what happened. It all went so fast. I wanted to send something inspirational but that didnt happen so we are going to try this week! Well not exactly inspirational. More of a thank you.

I cannot believe what a belssing it is to have been born into the church. It is a blessing that I will never be able to understand completely and I am not sure why I was so lucky to have that blessing given to me by my Heavenly Father. I feel like every day there is something new I am grateful for and even though I am so far from home and family I feel so happy. Not at all happy for anything material, seeing as we dont have much of anything, but for the amazing blessing that I see every day. I know without a doubt that the gospel changes lives. I have seen families go from disaster to happiness through prayers and the Book of Mormon. There is nothing more powerful and when we have Christ first in our lives everything changes. I know this church is true. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet called of God. And I know that the Book of Mormon is the most amazing gift that we have been given in this time to learn and grow in the gospel. In every verse there is something to learn, something to put into practice in our lives and I am so blessed to have this time here in Mexico to learn and grow in my testimony and share it with others. I hope you have a wonderful week! Love you love you love you!
