Jacob - August 8, 2016

Hey everyone, it was good to hear from the most part of you all. From
what I can tell it seems like everything is going good back home.
For me this week was good. We had a good amount of lessons which was
nice. Most of the lessons came from people that we picked up the week
before or maybe a little bit further back. We invited a lot of people
to church this week, but unfortunately all the people we invited
didn't come. The only people that did was Marisol, an eternal
investigator and another guy named Juan Carlos. He's an interesting
story because we taught him a bunch with Elder Mark, but it turns out
that he lived outside of our area... But he still comes to church and
has gone for the past 8 weeks now, all we have to do is wait till he
moves into our area which should be in about a month now. So we're
going to be patient with him and once he moves in, he'll get baptized.
A lot of our other investigators have potential, but they just need to
come to church.
Something I've been doing lately is reading a lot of talks by Elder
Oak's, he's coming to the mission pretty soon so it's out "prepared to
learn" for his coming. One talk I read this morning was really good
called "The Atonement and Faith." I really enjoyed it. One thing I
liked is how it said that Faith is our willingness to accept whatever
it comes. It's more of a sign of how we will react, even if the result
isn't what we wanted. Another part it mentions later on is how
repentance plays a part in those two principles. It mentions how
repentance only works if someone suffers through it. They have to have
Godly sorrow for them to receive the promise of forgiveness. I liked a
quote that President Kimball said, "One has not begun to repent until
he has suffered intensely for his sins. … If a person hasn’t
suffered,” he said, “he hasn’t repented.” Which makes sense to me,
since Christ suffered, we probably should experience a little bit of
pain as well. I can't think of anything that super crazy happened this
week. But everything is going great. I'm excited to see what this week
will have in store for us, to see which of the people I am teaching
are ready or not to receive the gospel into their lives. It should be
a great week, and I hope it'll be the same for all of you. Keep doing
what you're doing and Heavenly Father will bless you tremendously.
Love you all and I'll hear from you next week.

Jacob - August 1, 2016

Hey everyone, I'm glad to hear that you all had a good week. It sounds
like the family reunion was pretty fun. This week for me was good. We
were able to teach a bunch of people. Um I'm not sure what else to
really say for this time around. Everything is going really well, sure
there is ups and downs, but nothing too out of the ordinary. We found
a really cool couple that have been pretty interested in the
discussions. We taught them the plan of salvation yesterday and they
seemed really interested in the eternal families. So we'll see what
happens with them. Right now it's a matter of seeing who does their
commitments. Personally I think that's the best way to know of someone
is interested. But anyways we got a lot of work cut out for us with
all the new investigators we have, plus we'll probably continue to
find people. But I think we'll be just fine. Anyways I think that's
mostly it. Everything is going well. I hope you all have a great week!

Hey everyone, so today is transfers and I'm staying in the same area.
But I will be getting a new companion, elder Pitt. I'm pretty excited,
he's a transfer younger than me so we'll see how it goes. I think
it'll be good. Anyways it was good to hear that everyone had a good
week. Apologies that I'm not writing to you all separate, but I'm sure
you understand. This week went really good. We taught quite a bit of
lessons and we have a good list of new investigators, but we need to
keep up on updating the teaching pools so that its constantly
circulating with people. Also I was able to go to a wedding this week
on Saturday, and the Sunday following the family that got married was
baptized. Super cool experience, I think it's amazing how the gospel
can change people if they allow it to. I can't think of much else to
write about, but I'm excited to see what this next week and transfer
will bring. I love you all and I hope you each have a great week!
