Jacob - October 17, 2016

This week we met together as a stake. There were lots of
people and we all got to partake of the sacrament together. It was
cool, but the reason was that there are some changes going on in the
Spanish Stake. Two wards are going to be discontinued and their
members will meet in different wards. The boundaries of the ward I am
currently in will expand a little bit and we are going to have another
companionship here for at least this transfer. So we will have 6
elders and 2 sisters here. It's pretty crazy, but I'm really excited
to see what we'll happen this transfer. I think a lot of good will
come of it. Oh also this week I had the opportunity to have an
interview with President Taggart. We talked a little about humility
and also about Alma 5:33-34. I like this scripture because the
invitation the Savior extends is one word: Repent and his promise
blessing is that he will receive us. I find it amazing how simple the
doctrine is and that it's the only we thing we need to do to receive
the Savior's love. But there's a ton of other scriptures that I've
enjoyed as I've read the Book of Mormon. Currently I'm in Alma 18
where Ammon begins his ministry among the Lamanites. But I think
that's mostly it for this week. I'm doing well and today is transfers
which equals change, lot's of change with this new stake layout, but I
know everything will go well. I love you mom, I hope you have a great
week and that you can feel 100% again. Also that you can overcome
those negative feelings. Just remember the savior has felt it all, so
let him help you out. Take care.

Jacob - October 10, 2016

This week was good, pretty normal I'd say. We had a 12 week follow up
meeting to see how the training has been going. That was really good
and gave me some good ideas how I can better train. But this week we
had a lot of finding and teaching. So things seem to be picking up. We
found some cool people recently that I am excited to work with. This
P-day has been pretty crazy and I haven't had much time to write
emails. But today we had some super good sushi with a member. Um yeah
sorry that's all I can think of. Have a good one!

Jacob - October 4, 2016

Hey Family, thank you all for writing me. I'll try to respond to your
emails at a more personal level when I write them, but I just wanted
to make sure you all hear from me. So this week went well. It was a
little tough finding people to teach. We didn't teach a ton and it's
been tough finding people that are willing to progress. But we're
doing alright, just have to keep at it. Fortunately there was a ton of
blessings this weekend that made up for the hard week. First off
general conference was awesome. The talks were super good and I
enjoyed it a lot. I can't wait till they're put on gospel library so I
can study them more. Also after the Sunday afternoon session we had a
baptism for Juan Carlos, an investigator that elder mark and I taught
back in SA11. That was a really spiritual baptism, I'm really happy
for him. Then today, (the reason I'm writing today), was that we went
to the temple. Also super spiritual and peaceful. So lots of spiritual
events these last few days that I have enjoyed. It's been nice to get
a little break from all the hectics of missionary life. But those were
probably the highlights for this week. There some more cool events
coming soon like Zone Conference with a seventy & as well as president
interviews. Oh and also my study in the Book of Mormon has been going
really good. Studying the Book of Mormon with a focus on the savior is
super powerful and I've been able to understand a lot more. Lots of
scriptures have taken greater meaning to me. one scripture I liked
this week in preparation for general conference was Omni 1:13. It
talks about the people having to leave into the wilderness, but how
the lord lead them and blessed them. It made me think about how when
we receive council from our leaders, they in a way ask us to leave to
the wilderness. The wilderness isn't easy, but it's a lot better than
being destroyed. So sometimes the things that leaders ask us to do
won't be easy, but they know what's best. Also we have the promise
that the lord will lead us and bless us. So that was one cool
scripture. I also liked all of Jacob, but I don't have time to talk
about all of that. But that's pretty much my week. I love you all and
hope you have a good one.
