Tayler - March 23, 2015

Well we still havnet really been able to find people but i feel like that is the reason i am in this area, on saturday i went into the richest house i have ever been in argentina, i will tell you about that a little later. Well we spent lots of time contacting and trying to teach people but lots of people work here during the day and lots of the people here are older so it is kind of hard to teach them too becuase they are very hard headed. BUt this one guy did come out and at least talk to us for a little the other day but he was a little crazy he was talking and then all of the sudden stopped talking and was just looking out into the distance and then after a while he picked up right where he left of and continued talking like nothing happend it was quite funny i didnt really know what to do cause i think he had a brain fart but it was funny. Well also it is finally starting to cool off down here fall has begun and the fall weather came with it we had hot weather right up until the first day of fall when it dropped to like 24 celcius wich is awesome. And yesterday we had a lesson about the restoration with this guy and he was totally against the idea of prophets and we tried reading about prophets in the bible and everything but he didnt accept it but o welll we continued and i got to the first vision and let me tell you i havnt felt the spirit so strong for a long time we havent had that many opurtunities to teach the restoration and i love it it gives you an awesome feeling and i hope he felt the spirit too. So also my companion went to Lone Peak and i asked him if he knew Max Liechty and he said he did so that was pretty cool, i told him that he was my best friend a long time ago. Well thats all i got this week. I love you

Hola!

Sounds like a good week! My companion loved reading your spanish lol. I got your package! I cannot tell you how excited I was to brush my teeth! And I got a package from Tyrel and from John and Katie! Wonderful day!  I have to give a talk next week. A little stressed but it will be good! That BLOWS my mind that becki is pregnant! I cannot even imagine that! But I am sure she will be a good mom too! She will have alittle tom boy girl like her haha.

Anyways, thiis week flew by and we had an amazing baptism on Saturday! Little Alejandra. She is adorable. and she said the most amazing prayer I have ever heard come out of an 8 year oldsmouth. She is awesome and it has been super fun to get to know their family. They are super special. I had them laughing so hard the other night,I cant even remember what I was saying but the mom is SUPER sarcastic so I do pretty good with her humor! Anyways, we have been having choir ´practice every sunday for an easter program they are doing in the stake. I was going to sing saprano until I heard the altos trying to learn their part and decided I would switch and help lol.... Oh dear oh dear is it interesting. But I like singing alto, its fun! You have to think a little harder! Oh! Did you get a change to ask if Jjs family has someone in the mission? And would you do me a favor? Will you send me apicture of Jj and I that is on facebook? I know there are a couple. Thank you!

So i have to share what happened on Thursday. Holy moly it was a day. We went to the other side of our area which we almostnever go to so we went in a combie, the bus things that drive around, like big taxis ha. Anyways, we went WAY to far and were way out of our area and while I was asking some guy where the road was that we wanted some drunk old dude put his arm around my waist! Just like slipped his hand right around me! I jumped about nine feet and to the other side ofmy companion and said, que le vaya bien and shook his hand haha. Anywyays, the day continued alittle rough and at night we bough a half gallon of ice cream and shared the entire thing. My companion sure is awesome right now.We made a goal to give each other a hug every night before bed and we almost forgot the first night! We were laying there with the lights off and I jumped up and said, "Su abrazo!" hashaha, I scared her to death! Anyways, we have alot of fun she is super great.

Thats about how this week went! We NEED to find new people to teach and I need to not think about transfers! I will be sad to go but at the same time 6 months in one place is a LOT of time! I hope everything is going good at home! Keep me updated on mission papers. When is Keaton going to send his? Anyways, have a great week! Love you tons! I hope your online!

Love you!

Isnt she the cutest!

Tayler - March 16, 2015

well i got transfered i am in a place called merlo. it is probably one of the richest places in my mission and by far the richest place i have been in. I really like it the only problem is that it is not the best place to do missionary work cause the people are rich and work all the time and they dont really like to talk about religion so its a little hard but i love this place. i was really close to here when i started my mission i was in a different ward in the same stake but i got to come over to my area no merlo 1 a few times and i love this place. My new companion is from utah again i am kind of getting tired of utahns but whatever. And yesterday i ate tongue for the first time wich was kind of crazy but it was good. not that much happened this week cause it was my first week and i did not know what was happening but it was good. and dont worry about the organ thing the people here dont really know how to play at all but they try and when i say try it is actually try. I love you

this is a family from my other area we baptized the dad Gustavo

Love Elder Baer

i bought this mate i thought it hada good message...
it says smile god, loves you. and i am glad i got 45 bucks that is sweet, the thing about utah is the missionaries there they like grow up in a bubble so when things happen they get really weirded out and it is kind of annoying that they dont understand anything that happens in the world but its ok they are just used to being around mormons and thats not their fault. i do really like what you said about service cause i think that is going to be an awesome and probably the only way to find new people here so i will definatly do that. and i will try to take more pictures its hard sometimes but in this area i usually walk around with my camera so i will have more oppurtunities for pictures, also at an intersection close to our house when it is a red light lots of times people go and juggle and entertain the waiting people its kind of cool i like to watch them.

Lexie - March 9, 2015

It was a nice week. Fast as always! We are working on letting go of a lot of our investigadors and finding new people. No one is really progressing. BUT we have a baptism this week! Her name is alejandra and she turned 8 yesterday! Her mom is the one that cant get married because she isnt married yet and her dad isnt her real dad so she counts as an investigador lol. Anyways, her baptism is this week and we are super excited! We went to eat with them yesterday night and they made delicious food! And we brought them ice cream! They are a super special family and even though they have had some seriously large trials they are changing so much and it has been so amazing for me to see.

So something that was super cool about this week is that we focused on talking about the sacrament. Honestly I am not sure if I have ever been more direct in my whole mission. My companion was so shocked. But I think that they way we shared everything the people really understood becuase several less active members went to church this week. Elder Oaks talked a lot about how if we arent participating in the ordinance of the sacrament we cant do any of the other ordinances. It totally makes sense but sometimes we forget the importance. So always remember while you are taking the sacrament how important it is and how it helps us prepare for everything the follows.

Honestly I think the rest of the week was pretty normal. We had an acitvity in the church and watched the testaments. We brought several investigadors so taht was all good!

Ok I think that is about it! I will send more if I think of more! I love you tons! Oh and our leaders are headed to Tuxtla this week so I will let you know if my package came. Talk to you soon! Hope your online today!

Love, Hermana Baer

And there are SO MANY MANGOS! My teeth are going to turn orange but it is the best thing ever. We can just talk a long and reach up and pluck a mango out a tree. Cool huh!

Tayler - March 9, 2015

sounds like a good week and way to go jacob in argentina they would call him a capo wich here is a good thing but in mexico it means drug lord so to me he is a capo. well last night we were told our changes and i am going to get transferred on wednesday but i still dont know where i am going but i am excited to get a new area and a new start kind of . its been hard in this area for the last few months we worked a ton the first months and we had 5 baptisms but lately we have not been having any success but now i am out and i am happy kind of sad though to cause my companion is awesome. Well i didnt really take that many pictures this week mostly some selfies in my soccer jerseys that i bought, so far i have 3, 2 argentina jersey and the jersey from the local team Lafe. and then i have some fake jerseys too but i dont really like to wear those cause they are fake. i am more of an original person. and yes my hair is really blonde here, i think its from being outside all day, all the people call me blonde cause blonde people here are kind of a sight to see there are not that many so they get excited when there are blonde people. and thanks for sending in my tax stuff i hope i get some back cause we didnt do it last year. well i will try and send some pics, I love you

Lexie - March 2, 2015

It was an eventful week! I ate an iguana! More on that later lol. So he had intercambios and I headed to another area. That is always super weird to work in another area but it is the hermanas that are in our ward too so I know most of the people that they are teaching from church! The other day I was showing my compaion how lizzy blows on her food (spits on her food lol) and it was in the wind and so I actually spit all over my companion lol. It was sooo funny. Then I almost fell on my face this week. It was one of those times where your face is super close to the ground and your feet are up in the air behind you lol. But no worries. Nothing happened! My shoes are starting to die though. the black super comfy ones the heel is starting to feel away. You know the fabric part? Anyways, hopefully they will last!

Ok now for the iguana. Pictures are coming. I told one of the members that I wanted to try iguana becuase they are starting to make them a lot right now because they all are running around pregnant and I guess the eggs are really tasty. Anyways, we were eating with the bishop and got a call from this hermano and he said he had iguana for me! I thought that ment cooked.... but nope! He caught one in the street and brought it over lol. We took pictures with it, my comp refused to touch it lol. Anyways, 2 days later I ate it! Eggs and all! It tasted like chicken but the texture is kind of weird. And the eggs were actually super delicious. So that was kind of cool. I have no eaten iguana!

Next is our trip to Tuxtla. We left at one in the morning saturday and got home at 11 at night. It was such a long day. 12 hours in a bus! Blahhh! But anywyas, me compaion and I travled in our matching shirts that we got made becuase we are super cool. We made goodie bags for our district. Complete with rice crispys that I made! Arent we just the most mormony mormons you ever did meet! Anyways, the conference was amazing. Elder walker and Elder Oaks. elder walker is a 70 That is from Argentina so now I know kind of Tayler is going to talk. His accent is super wierd! But he is living in Mexico right now and his talk was great. He talked about how preach my gospel is the culture of the church. He shared how sometimes people feel like we are trying to americanize them when we teach the gospel but the gospel culture is the same in every part of the world. It was a really good talk. But then all the REALLY good stuff came when Elder Oaks talked. It was so fun to listen to him. He had someone there to translate but it was nice to hear him speak and share in English. He shared a lot of things but I think that thing that impressed me most was when he shared about the sacrament. They say a lot in the church that we always need to be looking towards the next ordinance, but what is the next ordinance? It comes every single week. It helepd a lot with some questions we have had in teaching and made me have the desire to study more about the atonement this week. I started today and already cant believe the things I am learning about something that I have known my whole life. There is a part in Preach my gospel that elder walker shared that said as we come to learn and understand the atonement we will have a greater desire to do missionary work and share this message. I want the strongest desire I can have to serve so I am going to continue to study and learn more. I read a story about the atonement this week that I really liked. If i can find it I will send it your way.

I will send more on that in a second if I can find it but I hope you have an awesome week and I hope you are online a little more in a second! lots of pictures coming your way! Love you!

Love, Hermana Baer

Our district with our zone leader Elder Puentes. He is headed home this week! so sad, he is awesome. He always says, Que padre la verdad. So we got him a shirt made. Because we all know I love tshirts.

Tayler - March 2. 2015

well this week wasnt terrible but we didnt have a lot of succes either. We spent a lot of time walking but that is pretty normal now. And yes we have transfers on the march 11 so i think i will be getting out of here pretty soon. I just want to get out of here. I feel like this area is kind of dead and the branch is kind of difficult to be in i like the people and everything but because it is a branch i just get so frustrated when i go to church and it just isnt very well organized. But yeah it has been weird week we got dropped by our investigators who were our best hope to getting baptized we went and did service for them last week and when we went this week they told us they didnt want to waste their time with us it was kind of hard cause she just came and told us she didnt try to sugar coat it at all so that was too bad. And now we basically have no investigators again but we just have to keep looking. but yeah i will definatly talk to jake about his papers and i hope you have a good week i love you

Love Elder Baer

i was also thinking this week you should send me if you can like those little packets of taco seasoning yo ucan buy i am sure you can sent those throught the mail and maybe some seasoning salt or somthing i am tired of the bland food. You should just find some good stuff you can mail in an envelope and send it makes me happy to get some stuff from the US. I always love getting letters in the mail for some reason its just better than emails.

Lexie - February 23, 2015

Hola hola,
Wow have we had a WEEK! I have questions and stories and lots of stuff to tell! We are going to go through the week day by day I think lol.
Monday, Ok last monday we went to get shirts made! Because you know how much I love shirts. We are going to pick them up today so pictures will be coming tomorrow. Ok I think thats it for monday. Not that exciting lol.

Tuesday, We had an amazing lesson with one of our new investigadores named Jaime. He is awesome and went to 2 baptisms and churhc on sunday even though he was sick! He has never had religion in his life becuase his mom doesnt like it... at all, in any form. But he has so much faith and is so eager to learn. We are so excited for him AND found out on saturday that he has family in our ward and he didnt even know it! How cool huh!

Wednesday, We had our every 6 months activity and went to see Izapa! Its a couple different areas of ruins here in Tapachula and even though some of the rocks you cant see very well it was super cool. I think grandpa would enjoy it! We had a guide that had huge printed pictures of what the rocks used to look like and explained a little of what they ment. He talkeda bout the blood rituals they used to do and blech.. gross gross gross. But anyways, one of the rocks is the tree of life! They all think that it talks about lehis dream but who really knows! After that we went to watch the elders play soccer, because obviously we arent going to play with all the latins. I would die. And had some pizza and watched meet the mormons! I hope you got the chance to see it. It was really good!

Thursday, In the morning we went to the park where they played soccer the day before and helped them clean. And cut down a bunch of plants and all sorts of stuff. The weird thing is we would clean up a buch of stuff and then they dump it off into the river! how awful huh. The rivers here are sooooo contaminated its awful. At night when we got home I thought I had a full on urinary tract infrection. Holy smokes I hurt sooooo bad. So I took cranberry pills. Drank some cranberry juice and chugged 2 liters of water. I got up to pee every 2 hours that night lol. But thanks to that and prayers I felt all better in the morning and have started carrying a water bottle with my in my bag.

Friday, The elders in our district had a baptism that we went to see that was really nice. We took jaime with us and he enjoyed it a lot. At night we got home and I walked into the bathroom and there was a cockroach laying on its back right in the middle of the floor (There were like 6 other dead ones scattered around but this one was right in the middle of the floor) Anyways I figured it was dead so I kicked it out of the way and it flipped over and came at my like a ragging rhino! I went running for the high hills of my gosh bout freaked me out! But my kind companion sprayed it with raid. I can kill them, but ew I hate when the freak me out like that!

Saturday, Baptism day! Jeimy and Jeidy were adorable and there mom was able to go to the baptism. Something I didnt think was going to happen. She has been inactive for years and year and years. The baptism was great and the girls said the opening and closing prayers. In the closing prayer Jeimy just kept asking for blessing for my companion and I, it was adorable. After the baptism she came running up to us and said "Hermanas! I felt Jesus next to me in the water!" Isnt it awesome how close kids are to the spirit? I love it! }

Sunday was pretty normal. So was today. Except for that when I was showering a cockroach crawled out of the drain. Freaked me out.... again. Gosh I hate those things. That and I had a dream last night about taking a hot shower, it was awesome. Then I woke up and took a freezing cold one lol. Oh well! We are super excited for this week. We are headed to Tuxtla at midnight on Friday night to see Elder Oaks! He is coming to Chiapas and is going to share something with the missioanries! We will head back home Saturday afternoon. It is going to be a longgggg day. But we are excited! And alllll the missioanries in the mission are going to be together. Should be fun.

I still cant believe I am half way done with my mission. There is so much more I need to learn and do and I hope i can fit it all into these last 9 months! I sure do love you and am so grateful to have the best mom in the whole wide world! Hopefully you have your lunch break before we head out today. We came a little early to write!

Tayler - February 23, 2015

Well this week went a little better we had divisions with the zone leaders and i think we all got on the same page so we are doing better now. We are still having hard times finding people but we went to a baptism on saturday in a different area and i just felt like we needed to find an awesome family because that is what the branch needs here they need new blood all the members here are members from a long time ago and no one has any excitment so if we baptize a younger family i think we could find a spark so we are going to be working on that contacting more families because we are here to not only save souls but also to build the kingdom here so we need to start focusing on baptising more people that are going to be more of a help to the church than to be a burden there are a lot of new converts here that are just so hard to support them and keep them coming because they just have hard lives and right now i dont think this branch has the means to keep supporting them so first we need to get the branch strong and then we can baptise the other people. Atleast that is my view on the situation. Well thats all i got for this week. I love you and i hope you have a good week.

Lexie - February 16, 2015

I am alive! Breathing! Everything is going good. I am pretty sure the nasty mosquito sickness is gone but they say its something you can get again so lets hope I dont! But honestly everyone and their dog here is sick. Its pretty awful, lots of people cant walk for days. Pretty crazy. I am glad everything is going good at home and you are having a jacob day. I loved the picture of baby millie! super cute. I bet andrea is just dying having a little girl in her house!

It was a good week this week. We have a baptism coming up this saturday for twin girls that are 9. Their mom is a member but has been inactive basically her whole life but the two girls go to church with their grandma every week. They are adorable and I am super excited for them. Very smart too! I was remembering yesterday, we did the baptism interview with them so that they are ready to do it with the district leadering during the week, anyways I was remembering when we went with the missionaries to teach vanessa and her mom. Crazy huh ll, who knows what every became of them but I was remembering that I would have been about 8 right? And I am sure I thought I knew everything about the church. Who knows! I dont remember much, but our hearts are so close to the spirit when we are little, Its pretty cool.

Anyways, so we are super excited about that and ALSO! this week we have a mission activity! That are every 6 months! We are going to see ruins that are here where there is a big stone with a scene carved in it which a lot of church historians say is lehis dream. Pretty cool huh? I will send lots of pictures! I get to be in jeans all day so I am pretty excited AND we are going to watch meet the mormons! In spanish I am sure lol, But I think I should understand it all pretty good!

I also got a package from tyrel this week! Woooohoooo! He did so good lol. He sent me a book with little stories and quotes for missionaries. I have been reading it all week and have found a couple poems that I love! I wanted to share one with you!

Its called.. I Knelt to Pray

I knelt to pray as day began
And prayed, "Oh God, bless every man.
Lift from each weary heart some pain
And let the sick be well again."
And then I rose to meet the day
And thoughtlessly went on my way;
I didnt try to dty a tear
Or take the time a grief to hear.
I took no steps to ease the load
Of hard-pressed travelers on the road;
I didnt even go to see
The sick friend who lives next door to me.
But then again when day was done
I prayed, "Oh God, bless everyone."
but as I prayed a voice rang clear
Instructing me to think and hear.
"Consult your own heart ere you pray;
What good have you performed today?
Gods choicest blessings are bestowed
On those who help him bear the load."
And then I hid my face and cried,
"Forgive me, Lord, for I have lied.
Let me live another day
And I will live it as I pray."

-Sterling W. Sill

I love this poem. And I know I have shared this before but I am learning so much about prayer and how we have to do our part. Nothing happens just by asking and if we dont live in a way that will help the blessings that we need come about, well, they wont! God doesnt do the things that we can do for ourselves and when we do all that is possible to acceptand do His will, that is when the real blessings come, the miracles! The blessings we didnt even know we needed. I love you tons and I hope you remember to always live as you pray! It is something that I am working on every day and I know that is helping me be more receptive to the spirit and work harder here in the mission. I hope you have a great week! I love you, best mom in the whole world!

well this week was difficult we are still having trouble finding people and yesterday the zone leaders called us cause they were mad that we didnt find a ton of people but i dont understand why they are so mad we are doing all we can to find and i think thats all the lord asks as long as we are working as hard as we can thats all the lord asks so thats kind of frustrating but what ever we just have to keep working. Well also this week we watched meet the mormons president robertson got a dvd of it wich is the only dvd in all of argentina so that was cool i really liked the part about navys head football coach just cause it showed a lot of football highlights man i miss sports. my companion right now is a big sports fan to so me pass a lot of time just talking about sports wich is good we get along great tool. It was an awful weeek. I was so sick. Thank goodness not the puking kind but I got this weird sickness that is going around here. Its called chincongunya or something like that. My body hurt so bad I could hardly walk. I had a fever and hives all over my body and bumps on my tongue and a bunch of weirdness. But we worked all week and finally yesterday I couldnt anymore and after church we went home and slept all day. Thanks to this I feel wayyyy better today. But it was a rough week. Good thing I have an awesome companion becuase she was super helpful in everything.

I hope you had a good week. Let me know how everything is going. Can you believe I reach the half way mark this week? So crazy. I will be on the downhill. And next week tayler. Super crazy. I hope you have a good week. Love you.
